JR Spear is the owner and founder of PowerFit Bootcamp. He is a 4th degree Black Belt and has experience in many different styles of Martial Arts. In addition to being the Senior Instructor at PowerFit Bootcamp, JR is a martial arts and fitness instructor, has experience teaching MMA Fitness, Cardio Kickboxing, Individual and Group Personal Training sessions. JR has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.
JR is an Iraqi Veteran honorably discharged from the United States Navy, Fleet Marine Force. He spent his first tour at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia from 2003-2006 where he helped train future Marine Corps Officers. From there, JR was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California and was deployed to Iraq with the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines from 2006-2007. During his time in the military, JR participated in leadership training and assisted in military martial arts and self-defense/combat skills.
JR has passion for helping people achieve their goals and becoming the best they can be, both physically and mentally. He works hard to ensure that client needs are met and strives to give the best customer service to all bootcamp members.
JR is a strong Christian and loves to play the guitar and sing/write worship music. He is a runner, triathlete, and loves to compete in races to help him achieve his personal fitness goals. He plans on competing in his first half Ironman in the near future and someday complete a full Ironman. Some of his lifetime goals are to continue expanding his business, PowerFit Bootcamp, and to be a devoted husband and father.
Kyle Nunnally graduated from Fox High School in 2010 and is now studying at Jefferson College. He has 13 years of experience in Tae Kwon Do, competed in various tournaments, highlighted by participating in the 2003 Junior Olympics, and grew up actively involved in many sports.
Kyle is a dedicated Christian, who attends St. John’s Lutheran Church and uses all aspects of God in his life. He enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys hanging out with friends, participating in sports, listening to music, reading and writing. He also loves helping and encouraging others.
Kyle has many lifetime goals which consist of one day having a family of his own, improving upon playing music, staying involved in sports, and to help grow PowerFit Bootcamp into a big and successful program.
After years of dedication to physical fitness, Lisa decided it was time to share her experience, knowledge and passion with others; assisting and encouraging them to achieve their own personal fitness goals. After watching her children play competitive sports throughout high school and college, Lisa was motivated by their drive and sought certification as a personal trainer.
Powerfit Bootcamp has proven to fulfill Lisa’s desire to guide individuals in their quest for physical fitness. Her classes are fast paced and motivating providing modifications to fit each participant’s athletic ability. During her time away from Powerfit Bootcamp, Lisa enjoys riding her bike, hiking nature trails, cooking for her family, shopping with her daughter, encouraging her son’s studies at Logan College of Chiropractic, and watching her youngest son play college soccer. She is excited to help grow Powerfit Bootcamp and help all clients become Powerfit ready.
Sheillah Kinz grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Marketing Degree. She was a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines until she started a family. She is a devoted wife and mother of 4 children. She believes if you put God first, everything else falls into place and He will give you the desires of your heart. She is passionate about intentional living and loves working with people.
Sheillah Kinz is a go-getter who enjoys a challenge. She is passionate about fitness and enthusiatic about pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Throughout her life, she has practiced various forms of exercise, including weight lifting, spinning, aerobics and jogging. In 2003-2004 she taught spinning and aerobics classes for the YMCA. As a cardinal rule, Sheillah is a firm believer that “fitness and nutrition go hand and hand”, “you can’t work out hard without eating healthy”. As a result, she actively seeks out ways to improve popular dishes, making them more flavorful and healthful to the body.
In 2010, Sheillah attended her first bootcamp class. From then on, she was hooked. She found bootcamp to be more than just a workout routine, it “was a mental experience of breaking down walls of intimidation as well as transforming the physical body”. As she gained confidence in herself, Sheillah found that she possesed the strength to try new things–even the fortitude to become an instructor.
Alison Sanker has been married for nine years to her wonderful husband, Louis. They have three beautiful children – William (first child), Addison (2nd child), and Averie (third child). She is so grateful and thanks God every day to be so blessed to have an amazing family!!
Alison lives and grew up in Columbia, IL. She is a nurse anesthetist and absolutely loves her job! She graduated from SIUE with a bachelors in nursing in 1999 and also with a masters degree in 2003. She has been interested in fitness from a very young age competing in gymnastics and cheerleading as well as track and volleyball. Exercise and fitness is part of her daily routine and feels that is her personal time for herself. She has a passion for fitness and loves to run. In the past few years Alison started competing in half marathons and absolutely loves the thrill of the events.
In the summer of 2012 she discovered PowerFit Bootcamp and it has completely revived her workouts!! She has never been as motivated and enthusiastic about any workout routine! She is thrilled to be part of PowerFit Bootcamp’s team and is simply amazed to have the opportunity to teach and instruct classes!
Kuang is originally from Pelham, NY (20 minutes outside Manhattan) he came to the St. Louis area to study at Washington University School of Medicine for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He is currently in his 2nd year of study in a 3 year program. He has a strong interest in orthopedics and sports physical therapy with future plans to pursue post graduate education in manual therapy.
Kuang has a plethora of varied experiences in the world of fitness. While attending Ithaca College between 2004-2009, Kuang worked as a strength and conditioning specialist for the men’s club basketball team and the women’s rugby team. Also during his college years, at the age of 21, Kuang competed in his first drug tested natural bodybuilding competition. To date he has competed in 15 competitions, placing in the top 5 in 11 contests, 4 in the top 3, and 2 1st place titles. He has coached 3 competitors to 1st place finishes and now currently serves on the judging panel for the OCB and NANBF organizations. He has worked in gyms as everything from a front desk attendant all the way up to general manager, before deciding to acquire his ACSM health fitness specialist certification in 2011 and become a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.
Kuang was an all league high school football player and captain of the lacrosse team. Although he had a strong background in working with an athletic population, he chose to pursue a specialty certification because of his belief that exercise is medicine. He has taken his personal experiences and professional knowledge and helped clients ranging from those with medical conditions including people with diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and arthritis– to high level competitive athletes and weekend warriors. Kuang has worked with college athletes including lacrosse and baseball players, division 1 soccer players and dancers, and cheerleaders. He has coached national level youth hockey players involved in US junior olympic program and for a teenage soccer player trying out for the Major League Soccer NY Junior Red Bulls development team. Kuang has done strength and conditioning for MMA fighters, Ju-Jitsu grappling competitors, and semi-pro football players of the Tri-State Bulldogs.
Kuang has always enjoyed teaching bootcamp style metabolic conditioning circuits because of their fun and absolute effectiveness at delivering results. Recently Kuang has developed an interest in functional strength and fitness and loves using alternative equipment in both his own training and the training of his clients. He acquired a Kettlebell Concepts KBC instructor certification in early 2012 and has loved experimenting with new ways to use kettlebells. Kuang has taken up running as his next challenge and in August ran his first 5k in a time of 18:52.
Kuang is looking forward to seeing you in his next PowerFit Bootcamp class. He believes in 3 basic philosophies for success in the class:

Josh Gibson was born and raised in Manning South Carolina. He has been active his whole life playing various sports such as; baseball, basketball, football, golf, tennis, and soccer. As a child Josh was over weight and realized to be better at sports he had to train. As early as seventh grade Josh started devoting time to fitness training. Josh spent countless hours practicing drills and perfecting his athleticism. By ninth grade he had lost all the extra weight and concentrated on getting faster and stronger to perfect his skills in high school football, basketball, and baseball.
At the time Josh started high school his parents saw his potential and love for fitness and wanted to help encourage him with his dreams and goals. They purchased a home gym that allowed him to pursue his skills and to become a better athlete. Josh was hooked and pushed forward in becoming more physically fit ever since. By the tenth grade Josh had friends coming over after school to lift weights and to run drills outside.
Josh’s love for sports, and physical fitness did not stop after high school. He devoted his time to learning different styles of training from calisthenics, weight training, as well as endurance training. He has worked with athletic trainers, body builders, and strength and conditioning coaches to only help better his skills and knowledge of becoming a better trainer. Fitness has become a life style that he loves and wants to show others how rewarding it can be.
Morgan was born and raised in Mid-Missouri. She went to Truman State University to finish her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. While in undergrad Morgan worked as a Program Instructor for aerobics classes (Cardio Kickboxing, Bootcamps, Ab Blaster) & was a personal trainer for the university (3 years). Morgan also spent some time as an Intern at Health & Fitness with Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In 2009 she moved to St. Louis and attended St. Louis University to pursue a Masters degree in Public Health. During that time she worked at Fleet Feet in Fenton, MO.
Upon graduating from St. Louis University Morgan moved to Maryland in 2011. She worked for the US Army Public Health Command as an Injury Prevention Epidemiology Fellow. Her primary responsibility was to assess injury patterns during basic training and prevent injuries among Soldiers.
In 2012 Morgan moved to South Carolina to attend University of South Carolina. While attending University of South Carolina she is working on her PhD in Exercise Science, Health Aspects of Physical Activity. Morgan has an interest in Environmental and Social Determinants of Physical Activity (aka – What makes people be active and stay active?).
Morgan has been active her entire life and has done a little bit of everything! She participated in Volleyball, Softball, and Track & Field in High School. During college she began running, hiking, and teaching aerobics classes and agility drills. In 2009 Morgan ran her first full marathon – St. Jude’s Marathon, Memphis Tennessee. Her goal is to one day compete in a Triathlon!
